Dreaming Together
As the founder of Word Up, I am filled with gratitude and inspiration as I reflect on the unforgettable evening we shared at the Van Gogh Museum on May 31st. Vincent on Friday - DREAMS - Word Up Showcase was not just an event, but a profound celebration of creativity, community, and the transformative power of female voices in spoken word poetry.
The night was a testament to the vibrant, inclusive, and dynamic community we have built together at Word Up. Thanks to the Paradiso team we got to set against the backdrop of Vincent van Gogh's timeless masterpieces, the evening was a beautiful fusion of art and poetry that left a lasting impact on all who attended.
Our showcase featured an electrifying lineup of exceptionally talented female poets and performers. Each artist brought their unique voice and perspective, weaving stories, emotions, and reflections inspired by the profound legacy of Vincent van Gogh and certainly a woman in the shadows - Jo Bonger. We paid homage to this remarkable woman who played a pivotal role in preserving and promoting Vincent van Gogh's legacy. Jo's dedication and vision were instrumental in ensuring that Vincent's art reached the world, and her story is a powerful reminder of the impact that one determined woman can have. Therefore a central theme of the evening was the celebration of female empowerment, a cause that is deeply embedded in the history of the Van Gogh Museum.
Jo Bonger’s legacy was a guiding light for our event, as we highlighted the voices of women who, like Jo, are breaking barriers and making their mark in the world. The strength, resilience, and creativity of our female poets were on full display, reminding us all of the importance of making space for diverse voices and stories.
This evening was more than a showcase; it was a celebration of inclusion, belonging, and the beauty of diversity. It reaffirmed our commitment at Word Up to providing a platform where every voice matters and every story deserves to be heard. The energy in the room was amazing, as we came together to honor the power of art and poetry to inspire, connect, and uplift.
As I reflect on this magical night, I am filled with pride and hope for the future of our community. Vincent on Friday - DREAMS was a shining example of what we can achieve when we come together with open hearts and minds. It was a celebration of not only the incredible talents of our poets but also the enduring power of female empowerment and the legacy of those who paved the way for us.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this evening so special. Your support, passion, and creativity are the heart of Word Up. Let us carry the inspiration of that night forward as we continue to dream, create, and empower each other.
